I have a draft for one of those ridiculous “albums of the year” posts. It’s sitting there, gathering digital dust. I don’t regret not finishing it though. Had I published that post, a great injustice would have been done. Only this week did Kyle point me in the direction of this album, and it would have missed the cut.

The Latest in Sports
The next great American sport? Beer pong. Considering ESPN broadcasts poker tournaments on a regular basis, I have no problem with beer pong as a sport. At least the ‘athletes’ stand up during the competition.

If you haven’t seen it, let me tell you, its amazing! The customization is sick. You can set your favorite teams, players, and sports. The scoreboard at the top of the main page will have your favorite teams games highlighted and placed first in the listing. The detailed scoreboard pages are clean (also with favorites highlighted and moved to the top), as are the date selections at the top of said pages. Their video has been pretty awesome for awhile now, but thankfully they’ve moved it out of the sidebar. Plus, with the customization you can set the video not to auto start! I’m starting to think this internet thing is going to catch fire.

Animal Collective – Merriweather Post Pavilon
One week into the new year and many are already dubbing this the album of the year for 2009. While it’s a bit early to be calling it, this album is definitely amazing. If you aren’t familiar with Animal Collective, get this album, put your headphones on, and go to your special place. Already available on vinyl or as a digital download, the CD will be in stores later this month.
