Lackthereof – My Haunted
Lackthereof is the solo project of Menomena member Danny Seim. This is a slow paced acoustic album which won’t be receiving any fun times album of the year nominations, but if you’re looking to mellow out, this will certainly do the trick. Go checkout the Lackthereof myspace page to hear a few songs.
Sneak Peak: The Verve – Fourth
Keep your eyes open for this one. The Verve have come back together for a new album (tracklist), which is due out on August 19th. You can head over to The Verve’s myspace page to listen to the first single from the album, Love is Noise.
Sneak Peak: Beck – Modern Guilt
You can listen to three full length tracks from the upcoming Beck album, Modern Guilt. Don’t get too excited. This album hasn’t hit the streets just yet (scheduled release of July 8th), but these three tracks will give you a taste of the awesomeness to come.

Johnny Flynn – A Larum
Here is one I owe to the Black Cab Sessions. Johnny Flynn was the very first performer in the Black Cabs, and he unveiled the song Wayne Rooney, which can be found on this album. As usual, you can also check out Johnny Flynn’s myspace page to listen to some of his songs.
The Black Cab Sessions: Fleet Foxes
If you aren’t checking in on the Black Cab Sessions regularly… well, start. The concept is simple. A musician (or two or three) performs while traveling through the streets of London in the back of a random black cab. Apparently, these cabs are a staple of London? The latest cab session features Fleet Foxes.
Throw Me the Statue – Moonbeams
Here is another great indie pop rock recommendation from Kyle. Check out the Throw Me the Statue myspace page to sample some songs.
The Ruby Suns – Sea Lions
Kyle introduced me to The Ruby Suns today. This is the second full length from the New Zealand based indie pop outfit. This album is very floaty, and at times it brings Animal Collective (specifically Panda Bear) to mind, though that’s certainly not a fair comparison for the album as a whole. At the very least, you should definitely check out the song Tane Mahuta. You can listen to quite a few of the songs from this album on the Ruby Suns myspace page.
Guestroom Records, OKC
If for some reason you find yourself in Oklahoma City with some money to spend, I suggest you go check out Guestroom Records (NW 36th and Western Ave, map). They have an outstanding vinyl collection with reasonable prices. They also have a store in Norman, which I can only assume is equally cool. Scope the Guestroom Records myspace page or the officially hurting Guestroom Records website for more information (hours, etc.).
Lil Wayne – Tha Carter III
YesssZirrr. Started out hustlin. Ended up ballin. Lil Wayne makes me feel so gangsta, and he does it with a flamboyant style that Jay-Z can only dream about. Of course, Jay-Z makes an appearance on this album, as do a number of other big names, including Busta Rhymes, one of my favorite rappers. God, I love commas. Having said that, I don’t feel so gangsta.
